I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Her Majesty The Queen on her Platinum Jubilee, and to thank her for 70 years of extraordinary service. This Jubilee, we pay tribute to a head of state whose length of service and dedication to duty to are without parallel.
This Jubilee weekend, millions of people up and down the country and across the Commonwealth will join in an extensive programme of events taking place to celebrate The Queen’s reign. This includes the Queen's Birthday Parade, a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, and a Platinum Party at Buckingham Palace. Spectacular moments in major cities will be complemented by events in communities in towns and villages across the UK and the Commonwealth, allowing people to join together in celebration and thanks at both a national and local level.
Here in Worcestershire, a number of fantastic events are planned to mark this historic occasion and local communities have come together to arrange Street parties. No-one will be more than a few miles from some kind of event! Earlier this week, I began my Platinum Jubilee celebrations at The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Garden Party at Hartlebury Castle, hosted by Worcestershire County Council and the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire. The flags and bunting were out in full force and it certainly put me and the hundreds of other guests in both a thankful and celebratory mood!
There is so much to see and do over the coming days and I encourage everyone to get involved whether seeing a beacon lit on Thursday night, joining in with a street party or watching the grand national events on television. There is something for everyone this weekend!
