Congratulations to Liz Truss who has become the new Leader of the Conservative Party and our next Prime Minister.
Tomorrow she will be formally appointed by Her Majesty the Queen. We were fortunate to have a choice of two outstanding candidates and Liz won 57% of the vote of Conservative members.
Liz Truss will have my full backing, leading a new Conservative government that delivers for my constituents and the country. I know she will be straight down to work, tackling the big issues facing our country (and indeed the world) including the cost of living challenges facing households and businesses.
The Party must now unite behind the new Prime Minister as we deliver on an ambitious and positive agenda for our great country.
