Last week, train operating companies launched public consultations on proposals to change the way train stations operate.
The recently-announced proposals could see staff move away from ticket offices and into ‘multi-skilled customer help’ roles, in an attempt to reflect the changing customer habits which have seen a transition away from the use of ticket offices in favour of buying tickets online.
I am aware that these proposals would impact 79 stations on the GWR network, including both Evesham Station and Worcestershire Parkway in my constituency. Whilst these stations only sell a small proportion of tickets at their ticket offices (13% and 10.3% respectively) it is still vital that constituents have their say on these new proposals.
I would therefore encourage constituents to take part in the Transport Focus consultation, which is running until Wednesday 26th July 2023. This can be done either through the Transport Focus website here: https://www.transportfocus.org.uk/train-station-ticket-office-consultation/, or by email to: [email protected].
