To celebrate the launch of the new Fernhill Heath Post Office, I was given the chance to ‘cut the ribbon’ at an opening ceremony at 12.30pm today.
I welcomed the news that Fernhill Heath Post Office was to move to a bright modern open-plan branch and am delighted to be here today to congratulate Alan Kasch on his hard work and to formally declare the new Fernhill Heath Post Office open.=
The Post Office is vital to the community around Fernhill Heath and I'm sure the new improved office, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by all the local people.
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend opening hours for customers, the new Fernhill Heath Post Office at Mace, 101 Droitwich Road, Fernhill Heath, Worcester WR3 8RN offers Post Office® services from an open-plan Post Office terminal at the retail counter, where Post Office services are available throughout shop opening hours. The same wide range of Post Office services are available.
The branch opens from 5am - 9pm Monday to Saturday and 6am - 9pm on Sunday. The opening hours which have increased by an extra 73 hours and 30 minutes a week, ensure that the branch is more convenient, as people now have more choice of when to visit with earlier opening, later closing, no more lunchtime closures and service on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday opening.
New Postmaster Alan Kasch who has run the Mace store for over 30 year said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to open the new branch and I am very pleased to be officially launching it today for the community. I hope our customers like their new Post Office and I’d like to thank Nigel Huddleston MP for taking time from his busy schedule to come here today. I’d also like to thank the local community for their continued support and use of the branch.”
Richard Hall, Post Office Senior Stakeholder Manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Fernhill Heath and I am confident that this new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
He added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
