On Saturday, I joined 40 other local residents from the Evesham Anti Litter Group to help with The Great British Spring Clean and was thrilled to hear this was the biggest turn-out they've had with people wanting to get involved to #KeepBritainTidy.
The huge effort from volunteers and the Evesham Anti Litter Group cleared 75 big bags of rubbish from Evesham town centre. Bruce Taylor and Julie Tucker have organised this litter pick for 3 years in a row now and this year shows that people are becoming more and more aware of the impact of plastic and litter in our environment. I hope this event shows what we can do as a community to keep our towns and town centres looking their best.
This also comes with the welcome announcement that nearly £10 million will be made available for local authorities and community groups, like Evesham Anti Litter Group, to keep up their amazing work cleaning up our high streets and town centres. I want to thank all those who took part on Saturday, and across the country in this mass action environmental campaign, and especially Bruce and Julie who dedicate a lot of time and effort to organise these clean-ups in Evesham.
