Many constituents will be concerned about the incident at the Pear Tree Inn near Worcester last week.
I understand that the 25-year-old man who was attacked was taken to hospital and is in stable condition, and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder connected to terrorism as part of this investigation.
Incidents like this are, fortunately, very rare in our part of the world and I am aware that many of my constituents will be alarmed and concerned by this event. The police have increased their visibility in the area to help provide additional reassurance to local residents but they believe there is no ongoing risk to the public.
I would like to thank the police and emergency services for their quick response to this incident.
The police are keeping me informed of developments and are providing regular updates to the media.
