I had a very productive meeting this morning to discuss the A46 and the Midlands Rail Hub with Simon Statham, Head of Technical Programmes at Midlands Connect.
We discussed how, through the Government’s Midlands Engine Strategy, we must use transport projects in our area to unlock the economic and social benefits of the entire Midlands region. I will be making sure that the Treasury, the Department for Business and the Department for Transport looks not only at short-term fixes to the A46 and on our rail network, but instead as a longer-term investment project that could create more jobs and local housing for families too.
