The Government has announced the 2023/24 projects in the Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Investment.
The Get Active Strategy has been set out to get over 3.5 million people more active by 2030, including 1 million young people. To achieve this, it's vital that everyone, regardless of their background or location, has access to world class sport facilities.
As part of this commitment, the Government is delivering historic investment to improve and upgrade multi-sport pitches and facilities across the whole of the UK. The investment of over £320 million between 2021 and 2025 will help to level-up grassroots facilities, target those communities most in need, and increase participation in sport among under-represented groups, for example women and girls and those from ethnic minority backgrounds.
I am pleased to announce that funding has been given to my Mid Worcestershire constituency, with the Worcester Raiders football club being gifted a set of goalposts. With the team being based at Sixways Stadium, this helps a valued community club to be better equipped and hopefully be able to provide more opportunities to local people.
