All those involved in planning and participaing in the Battle of Evesham Festival events this weekend can be very proud indeed. What a fantastic weekend!
With the parade in the morning then the diverse schedule of events in the arena and the finale of the re-enactment of the battle, there was something for everyone - and as if Saturday wasn't enough; the whole thing was repeated again today. Even the weather complied.
I was joned by several friends from out of town and they all had a great time - and I talked to many people in crown meadow who had come to Evesham for the first time; specifically drawn here by the festival. It has bee a huge success and a great way to showcase the town and the friendly and welcoming people who live and work here.
A special thank you should go to the many sponsors, supporters, re-enactment groups and volunteers. Many people have given their time and services to make the event a success. A special thank you must go to Mick Hurst and the team at Areca Design for developing a top class website which has played a key part in promoting the festival and informing the thousands of visitors about logistics and timing of events. Well done all.
Of course, the festival is not yet over and more walkabouts, suppers and lectures/ discussions are planned for next week. See here for details.
Finally, local councillor Mark Goodge who has taken some fantastic pictures of the events over the last couple of weeks (some of which I have borrowed for this page). You can check out his facebook site complete with hundreds of pictures here.
