On Monday 16th January, I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment, pledging my support to Holocaust Memorial Day.
Friday 27th January will mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the largest sites of perhaps the most appaling act in human history.
In the lead up to this day, thousands of events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, with this year's theme being 'how can life go on?'
Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said: “Our mission is to educate young people from every background about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance. We are very grateful to Nigel Huddleston MP for signing the Book of Commitment, signalling a continued commitment to remembering the victims of the Holocaust as well as challenging antisemitism, prejudice and bigotry in all its forms.”
I would strongly encourage the people of Mid Worcestershire to get involved in any way they can and take time to reflect on the cruelty and suffering, as well as the courage and endurance, that permeated this terrible chapter in human history.
