I have reimbursed IPSA (which oversees MPs pay and expenses) with £2.43 for an expense claim for car mileage made on 13 November 2016 to attend the Evesham Remembrance Sunday service. I consider this an inappropriate claim, it was made in error, and I have reversed it.
It would be completely inappropriate to claim any expenses relating to attendance of Remembrance Sunday services (travel, wreaths etc). This one small claim was a genuine mistake made during the processing of my weekly travel expenses in November 2016 - and I corrected the error as soon as I was made aware of it. I apologise for the mistake and have reimbursed IPSA accordingly. No disrespect or offence was intended by me or my office. I have made a donation to the Royal British Legion as a gesture of good will.
All my expense claims are available for anyone to view at any time on the IPSA website. If you have any questions relating to my expenses, please feel free to contact my office.
