Constituents looking to plan their holidays and travel for later on this year will have been concerned as I am about reports that the European Commission's preparations for a no deal scenario include proposals that would limit new flights and routes for UK airlines.
I raised this issue in the Chamber today, pointing out that the limits on flights and ownership restrictions included in the proposals are not in the best interests of the EU or the UK and would limit the growth of tourism across Europe.
I was pleased to hear DexEU Minister Chris Heaton-Harris confirm that as these proposals have not yet been agreed upon, the Government will be engaging with the European Commission on the details and is seeking a comprehensive air travel arrangement with the EU.
