Last month I invited the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary, Michael Gove, to join me at one of the great British Asparagus Festival events taking place throughout the Vale of Evesham.
Whilst he was unable to attend, he did say he would be very happy to try some asparagus as soon as possible. I am pleased to say that he kept his word, and yesterday I was delighted to join fellow Worcestershire colleagues Rachel Maclean MP and Robin Walker MP to present our world-class asparagus directly to the Environment Secretary - this sample coming directly from Revills Farm Shop and Farmhouse Cafe, near Pershore.
I will be sure to ask him to confirm it is indeed the world's best asparagus at the next set of Defra questions in Parliament.
