Today, in the House of Commons, I asked how the Government and the Department for Work and Pensions are helping vulnerable Universal Credit claimants cover the costs of regular and important travel to hospital appointments. I am pleased to hear that Universal Credit claimants are able to receive compensation for the costs of their travel by showing receipt of a qualifying benefit at the hospital or clinic at the Cashiers Office, located at the hospital they have their appointment.
DWP Minister Will Quince also confirmed that journeys are claimable for a period of up to three months.
