Last week I attended a virtual 'tea room surgery' with Chris Pincher MP, Minister of State for Housing. During the meeting, we discussed a range of issues, but particularly the issue of 'Estate Rent Management Charges,' which I know have been a problem recently for some constituents on some local new build estates.
The Minister and I discussed the current legislative situation, and what future steps the Government intends to take to ensure freeholders on private and mixed tenure estates have equivalent rights to leaseholders to challenge the reasonableness of estate rent charges.
I thank the Minister for his time and for a very useful discussion. I will continue to monitor this issue in the coming months.
