The Government has announced its NHS Dental Recovery Plan in which an extra 2.5 million NHS appointments will be made available in the next year.
This is being backed by an additional £200 million of Government funding, and aims to deliver NHS appointments to those who have not seen a dentist in over two years.
Further measures include a New Patient Premium payment to incentivise dentists to treat around a million new patients who have not seen an NHS dentist in more than two years. The scheme will be introduced within weeks, ensuring that patients can benefit immediately.
Trainee dental places will also be expanded by 40 per cent as part of the first ever NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, as the Government looks to target the expansion into areas of the country which are underserved by the dental workforce.
I welcome the Government's announcement for those in my Mid Worcestershire constituency who have not yet been able to see an NHS dentist.
