I am deeply honoured to have been appointed Co-chair of the Conservative Party and to serve in Kemi Badenoch's Shadow Cabinet. Having been a committed Conservative party member since the 1980s—starting as an activist and councillor, then an MP and progressing through various roles in government—this appointment feels especially meaningful. It’s both a privilege and a responsibility to serve in this capacity as we prepare for the upcoming local elections and beyond. My aim is to engage with members, re-energise our organization and campaigning capability, help unite the party, and renew our offering and our policies in order to become an election-winning organisation again.
Meanwhile I will also play a part in holding this government to account and running specific campaigns on issues that I know are important to my constituents and people across the country. We’ve got lots of work to do, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
