It was fantastic to visit St Joseph’s and meet Headteacher Mr Carry, along with members of the school council, eco council, Mini Vinnies, and sports crew. They shared the brilliant initiatives they’re working on to improve their school and community.
The school council is introducing a Walk to School and Park and Stride programme to help ease congestion and promote healthier travel. The eco council and Mini Vinnies have visited the local recycling plant and are creating posters to raise awareness, alongside organising litter-picking activities. They’re also working with the Catholic charity CAFOD to support important causes, including writing thoughtful cards for prisoners, the elderly, and vulnerable members of the community.
The sports crew is encouraging pupils to stay active with 60 minutes of physical activity a day, helping to promote a healthier lifestyle.
It was a pleasure to tour the school and hear about these fantastic projects – and a special highlight was meeting Ted the wellbeing dog, who plays an important role in supporting the children’s emotional wellbeing!
